40 Years of Doing Good Things

Happy Birthday, Oregon Lottery!

Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned more than $16.5 billion for economic development, public education, outdoor school, state parks, veteran services, and watershed enhancements. Thank you, retailers! We couldn’t do this without your partnership.

State Parks Scratch-its Return for Summer

One of our most popular Scratch-its back this summer. Featuring three different designs, the Oregon State Parks ticket is $5 and highlights beautiful landmarks such as Smith Rock State Park and the Oregon Coast.

Since 1999, more than $1 billion in Lottery funds have supported Oregon State Parks. Proceeds from this ticket will help fund all Oregon Lottery beneficiaries, including Oregon State Parks. Last year’s ticket sold out in less than three months, and strong sales are expected again. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, June 10, 2025, just in time for Oregon’s summer season.

Key Persons Ownership Change Reminder

Retail Contracts would like to remind our retailers of reporting requirements outlined in provision 7.1 and 7.2 of the 2020 contract. This requires Lottery retailers to inform Retail Contracts within 14 days when there are any changes to key persons working in the business and when there are ownership changes. Failure to inform Retail Contracts within 14 days may result in compliance actions including contract termination.

7.1 Notice of Chances in Ownership or Form of Business: Retailer shall notify the Lottery in writing of any of the following changes at least 14 days before the effective date of the change, unless such change occurs because of the death of the owner whose interest is being transferred, in which case notice shall occur no more than 14 days after the change:

  • Changes in the owners of Retailer’s Business (for example, the addition of a new co-owner)
  • Changes in ownership interest in Retailer’s Business entity
  • Changes in the form of Retailer’s Business ownership (for example, the conversion from a sole proprietorship to a corporation)
  • Changes in Retailer’s federal tax identification number

7.2 Notice of Change in Key Person: If any change takes place regarding the number or identity of Key Persons (who are not owners) associated with Retailer’s Business, Retailer agrees to notify Lottery, in accord with Subsection 17.6, no more than 14 days after the change.

kudos to walmart #1951 in ontario

Over the past quarter, the store achieved a remarkable 0% outage rate for their GT20, a goal set 10 months ago. Initially facing a 12% outage rate, the Walmart team was motivated by their Lottery account manager, Scott’s, out of stock report. Additionally, Walmart’s front-end lead Tara took charge, instructing her team to check and fill the GT20 nightly. In short order, using reports and retraining, the store’s performance steadily improved. Walmart #1951 is now proudly one of four Walmarts to maintain an outage rate of 1% or less. Kudos for teamwork!

ID requirements for winners

NEW UPDATEA new Oregon Administrative Rule went into effect that requires players to present identification when they claim Lottery prizes at our payment centers or through the mail. This is not required for cashing tickets at retail locations.

To process a claim of any amount, the claimant must provide a valid photo ID or copy of photo ID. A full list of qualifying IDs are available here.
