Crown Point State Scenic Corridor
Vista House
Bringing 21st-Century accessibility to historic Vista House, thanks, in part, to your lottery play.

A Historic Gem with a Birdseye View
Vista House, perched atop Crown Point in the Columbia River Gorge, is a stunning example of Art Nouveau architecture. Designed by Edgar M. Lazarus and completed in 1918, this octagonal stone building offers breathtaking views from 693 feet above the Columbia River. Originally built as a rest stop for travelers on the Historic Columbia River Highway, Vista House also serves as a memorial to Oregon pioneers. Its elegant design and panoramic vistas make it a beloved landmark for both locals and out-of-state visitors.
Whether you’re enjoying the view, learning about the area’s history, or simply taking a break on a road trip, Vista House offers a unique connection to Oregon’s past and present. And thanks in part to your lottery play, Vista House is better equipped to continue to preside proudly over the Gorge for decades to come.

Hospitable Heritage
Just because it’s seen more than a century of Oregon history, doesn’t mean that Vista House is unprepared to serve today’s visitors. In recent years, Lottery-funded State Parks grants have helped fund ongoing maintenance and projects to bring modern accessibility to the heritage structure.
Vista House installed an accessible elevator lift in 2006. It rises from the bottom level right through the marble floor of the lobby. It allows visitors with mobility challenges to move easily between the restrooms, photo exhibits, and the gift shop on the lower level and the main-level lobby where they can enjoy panoramic views.

Crown Point State Scenic Corridor
Crown Point State Scenic Corridor is a must-visit destination, offering breathtaking views of the Columbia River Gorge from its rocky promontory. Visitors can enjoy picnicking, hiking, and bird watching while exploring the area’s rich natural beauty and historic significance. Take the scenic drive along the Crown Point Scenic Corridor for a perfect and memorable day trip.
Besides the iconic Vista House, the Corridor marks the beginning of the Waterfall Corridor, which includes eight stunning waterfalls (including Multnomah Falls). Don’t miss them!

When you play Oregon Lottery games, you help support Oregon State Parks and scenic areas like Crown Point State Scenic Corridor. At Vista House, maintenance projects including work on entrance doorways and the accessible elevator have been funded in part by Lottery dollars. Thanks to Lottery-generated funds, along with visitor and license fees, Oregon’s most important places are preserved for us all, now and into the future. When you play, you play it forward — for Oregon!
