Financial Benefits
Investing in Your Future
As a state agency, the Oregon Lottery is able to provide competitive salaries as well as ample resources and benefits to help employees plan for a secure future. Lottery employees have the option to enroll in the Oregon Savings Growth Plan (OSGP), a deferred compensation program offering a wide variety of investment options. Additionally, Lottery employees can reliably plan for their retirement years, thanks to employer-paid benefit and contribution programs managed through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).
what is PERS?
The Oregon Public Employees Retirement System, better known as PERS, rewards state employees for a job well done. PERS provides not only a pension for retirees, but also an extra investment account called an Individual Account Program (IAP). The pension provides monthly payments for life while the IAP provides disbursements until it is spent, helping retirees enjoy their golden years.

Oregon Saving Growth Plan
Another way that Lottery employees can save for the future is through the Oregon Savings Growth Plan (OSGP). This voluntary 457b deferred compensation plan is available through the state of Oregon to some public employees, including those at the Lottery.
OSGP was designed to help bridge the gap between the income your PERS pension, Individual Account Program (IAP), and Social Security may provide during retirement. Employees can choose to participate in and make contributions to OSGP in order to create additional savings for retirement.

Paid Leave
because time away matters
Everyone has a life outside of work – and sometimes, that requires taking time away. As an employee of the Oregon Lottery, you’ll accrue vacation and other paid leave.
Many Oregon Lottery employees have been with the organization for more than a decade – in no small part due to policies that treat each person like an individual. The Lottery knows that in order to help workers reach their potential, they need to feel respected, well-rested, and able to take time when they need it – like to volunteer in their community, to attend a parent-teacher conference, or to be with family in difficult times.
Learn more about how each type of leave works at the Oregon Lottery:
Vacation Time
At Lottery, you start your employment with 40 hours of leave in the bank. After four months, you’ll accrue 10 hours of Vacation time per month. For every five years of service, your vacation accrual increases by two additional hours, capping out at 20 hours per month once you hit 25 years of service.
Sick Leave
If the COVID-19 pandemic taught us anything, it’s that employees need to feel empowered to take time off when they feel sick, both for their health and the health of their colleagues. For that reason, Lottery employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month.
Holiday Leave
Lottery recognizes 11 paid holidays per year, including major holidays, as well as commemorative or historical days. At the discretion of the Governor, an additional day of leave may be awarded and available for use throughout the year as well.
Personal Business Leave
Not every time off request fits into another category – and that’s what Personal Business Leave is for. Each year in July, all Lottery employees are awarded an additional 24 hours of personal business leave, which can be used however the employee sees fit throughout the year.
Volunteer Leave
Community engagement is one of the Lottery’s core values. Employees are encouraged to take that value to heart and spend some time volunteering. The Lottery provides employees with one day of paid leave per year. That time can be used in one day or divided up and used to volunteer at events in Oregon that directly support our Oregon Lottery beneficiaries like State Parks, Outdoor School Programs, and working with veterans’ services.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) matter at Oregon Lottery – and we’re not satisfied to simply talk about it. Instead, we demonstrate our commitment in what we prioritize as an agency, in how we treat each other individually, and in how we design our organizational systems and processes. Every Lottery employee sees it, feels it and contributes to it.
Some of the ways that we prioritize DEIB:
- Regular listening sessions with employees about topics including identity, disability inclusion, and cultural competency
- Ongoing educational opportunities for employees
- Commitment to a Harassment and Discrimination-Free Workforce
- Open lines of communication, as well as a culture of “no dumb questions” to ensure everyone feels comfortable
- Financial incentives for those who bring special skills, like fluency in additional languages

Professional development opportunities and training
Internal Opportunities
At the Lottery we believe that our people are the most important asset of our organization, and we believe that the people who work here create the Lottery’s success. The Lottery is committed to empowering employees to nurture their own success, and part of that commitment means providing opportunities to move and grow within the organization.
Stipends for professional development
Many departments have budgeted for workers to take courses, either online or in-person, to further their career goals.
On-the-job learning
Oregon Lottery also encourages all employees to better understand the organization itself; workers are prompted to cross-train and work alongside their colleagues from other departments to better understand the entirety of the Lottery’s operations.
