How to play
What is Sports Action?SM
Sports Action is the game where you try to beat the point spreads of pro football games. Make your picks from the Sports Action Official Program, published weekly, that lists the teams playing and point spreads.
Get Cash Quicker
You can claim winning 3 of 3 and 4 of 4 Sports Action prizes the next day after the final event on your ticket has been played! All pari-mutuel prizes can be claimed beginning at 5 AM on Tuesday. Sales for each week's games begin on Tuesdays at 5 AM.
Read the Official Sports Action Program for a list of this week's Sports Action Events and Point Spreads. Along with this week's games, the Official Program lets you know:
- Which team is the Favorite and which one is the Underdog
- Who's the HOME TEAM (they are shown in CAPITAL letters)
- What's the Underdog Point Spread
- What Special Play games are this week
Every Wednesday during the pro football season, the week's new Sports Action Program is available:
-
At this Web Site
- At Oregon LotterySM retail locations
- In the Sports section of The Oregonian
- In most daily newspapers statewide
Make your Picks
 |
Make your picks on a Sports Action Entry Form. You can get an Entry Form at any Oregon Lottery retail location. After you've checked the Point Spreads and looked over the Special Plays on the Program, fill out the Entry Form.
How Much? The dollar amount you want to play: $2, $3, $4, $5, $10 or $20.
How Many? Decide on the number of events you want to play: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12 or 14.
Quick Pick. If you want the computer to make your picks, mark QUICK PICK or ask the clerk for a Sports Action Quick Pick.
Pick the winners! Look at the teams of the week, the Underdog Point Spreads and mull over the Special Plays. Then, mark your picks on a Sports Action Entry Form. Use the same bold numbers listed next to the team you picked as your choice. (Be sure your selections equal the number of events you’ve marked in the “How Many?” section.)

Get Your ticket
After filling out your entry form, you will receive a Sports Action ticket from the clerk. Your picks will be listed on the ticket. Keep the ticket, and after the football games have been played go to oregonlottery.org, check in the newspaper or take your ticket to a Sports Action retailer to find out if you’ve won.
Special Play Games
With Sports Action Special Plays, you have another way to get in the game. Look for these specially designated games listed in the Official Program each week:
TOT Total points scored by both teams during the game.
SAC Total number of sacks during the game.
FGM Total number of field goals made by both teams.
TPC Total number of passes completed by both teams, not including 2-point conversion attempts.
RUS Total number of rushing yards made by both teams.
INT Total number of interceptions made by both teams.
F-L Total number of fumbles lost by both teams to their opponent.
(Example: 0 + 1 = 1) *
Get your ticket at any Oregon Lottery retail location. After you fill out the Entry Form, give your money to a clerk or use a blue Lottery player-operated terminal. Be sure to keep your Oregon Lottery Sports Action Ticket; you'll need it to claim any prizes you win. Also, it's your responsibility to make sure that all your selections are correct, before leaving the Lottery retail location. Sit back and watch the games!
How to Win
Win by Choosing Teams:
