Beaver Creek State Natural Area
374 acres where you can play your way
Just south of Newport, on a wild stretch of the Oregon coast, lies Beaver Creek State Natural Area - 374 pristine acres of spectacular marshland and forest. Funded with $1.9 million of Lottery profits, Beaver Creek provides abundant wildlife as well as opportunities for bird watching and upland meadow hiking. Kayaking through the meandering creek, flanked by wispy marsh grass, could be the highlight of your visit. Keep an eye out for beavers, otters, even muskrats as you paddle up the two-mile Beaver Creek valley. People often return with stories of spotting eagles, egrets and red-tailed hawks. The Visitor Center has spectacular views overlooking the creek and provides interpretive panels describing the area ecology and wildlife. Beaver Creek is serene yet teeming with wildlife, perfect for those who want to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty of undisturbed nature.
