Clean Easily Replenished Fuel
What can technology do for Oregon’s economy? Imagine if we could turn leftover straw into valuable fuel. Well one company in Corvallis, with support from Oregon Lottery® dollars, is working to do just that - Trillium Fiberfuels. They’ve developed a way to take the normally wasted energy in straw and cellulose biomass and convert it into ethanol, a clean burning, easily replenished liquid fuel for the future. They call it grassoline. Clever name. Clever idea. This is fuel we can use to power cars, trucks and machines we need, as well as reduce our use of oil to help move Oregon and Oregon business forward. This is just one more example of how Lottery dollars are helping accelerate smart thinking to grow Oregon businesses and create a more diverse economy.
