– Oregon Lottery Mega Millions sales for the week ending March 31 were a record $7.2 million. The record sales were a result of the world record $656 million Mega Millions jackpot on March 30.
Nearly 160,000 Mega Millions tickets won cash prizes in Oregon in the March 30 drawing, including seven $10,000 prizes. Tickets sold in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland shared the record jackpot.
The Mega Millions jackpot also helped the Lottery enjoy its second best sales week ever reaching $27.6 million in sales. The all-time highest sales week was $28.3 million in Feb. 2006 aided by $6.8 million in Powerball sales due to a $365 million Powerball jackpot.
“Any time the Lottery can enjoy a record sales week for any game, it’s good for Oregon,” said Lottery Director Larry Niswender. “Lottery revenues are used throughout the state in our public schools, job creation, state parks, and watersheds.”
Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned over $8 billion for economic development, public education, state parks and watershed enhancements For more information on the Oregon Lottery visit
